Feeling as if I have lost control again

I am feeling as if I have lost control again. All I want to do is eat! My gasterontologist said that my thyroid levels were elevated, and she faxed the blood work results to my primary to review them. Still haven't heard anything. Not sure if this has anything to do with it or not. Starting to get depressed again over it. I had lost 80 lbs, gained back 40. Totally NOT happy with this situation, just stuck in that proverbial rut, and don't know how to get out. My sugars aren't as good as they should be. They were excellent. My A1C is 6.9, was 5.9…any suggestions?

I'm at my wits end.
thank you

Might be time for you to consult with an Endocrinologist. They are doctors who specialize in hormonal diseases…like hyperthyroid and diabetes. I had to ask my primary for a referral because he kept upping my Lantus and advising me to decrease my Novolog (I'm a type1) which created severe morning lows for me and wasn't helping me control my BG's. I also take thyroid medication and my TSH had been low for 18 months before he began to adjust that dosage. My A1c's had gone from low 6's to 7.5. After seeing the endocrinologist, she's gotten me back on track by lowering my Lantus, changing the time of day I take it, and using a sliding scale for the pre-meal Novolog. We're still in the tweaking stage but I feel encouraged and more in control. Rather than feeling my way through the carbs, I must now count them to determine the correct Novolog dose…a pain but a necessary one if I'm to get this under control. Seeing the endocrinologist was the solution for me. I hope you find yours. Wishing you a happy and healthier 2011!

Thanks for the information! I am going to call my primary right now to see if he did get the fax from my gastroenterologist. I wish you the same for a happy healthy 2011!

Your doctor should be able to answer any questions that you may have.
Both your Pancreas, and your Thyroid are glands within your Endocrine System.
What affects one area of this system can have effects on another area.
If you have a Endocrinologist on your Diabetes Medical Team, discuss this with your medical support team, eating consistently as a diabetic can signify a problem with Glucose absorbtion by your cells or Insulin Resistance.

You haven't lost control, you can do this, stay focused!

I just hate being a pain when I call the doctors. My primary had the blood work done, and I guess didn't see the numbers. My gastro doc, saw them, then faxed them to the primary, as of this posting, I haven't heard anything. I know the holidays goof up everyone's schedule, so I figure I would wait a couple of days to call and ask.

This is a hard time of the year for a lot of us .
When I get in that rut and I have benn there I got to make a big bach of veg soup and I can pig out on that and keeping the carbs low it seams to me that after a day or two I stop feeling the need to eat eat and eat sort of like a reset.
It works for me if you need instructions on how to make it just let me know .
Best wishes

Yes this is the hardest time of the year for us. I just don't eat right too, so that doesn't help, on top of all the other issues. Send me the instructions, I am willing to try anything to get me motivated again.

Yep, I just put it on the stove and let it simmer all day and we ate from the pot as we wanted...good on a cool day. We took decorations down today and having food just easy to pick AND low carb is great!

Hey! guess what's bubbling in my crock pot…an altered version of your soup! Had to substitute some vegetables (no green bean or broccoli, added mixed dried beans, and wee bit of cabbage, and sliced zucchini) loved the V8 idea! Also used less cajin spice…but might add more. Thanks for sharing!
