I have a question…I have been on Adipex for the last month for weight loss. My Dr. told me to limit my carb intake…no pasta, potatoes, bread, candy, etc…and I've been doing really well. I started the low carb diet on 11-13-10 and as of 12-8-10, I had lost 12lbs. My starting wt was 387lbs. Yup, I'm a big girl lol. Anyway, can you tell me if my monthly cycle has anything to do with cravings??? I had a partial hysterectomy in 2003, and of course, have no period. However, I still go thru the symptoms of a cycle…bloating, pimples on my face and back, irritability…just no period. Well, like I said, I was doing really well up until last Friday or so (12-10-10). I take my Adipex around 12noon, and literally don't eat till around 6 or 7pm…I just don't want anything. But for the past few days, I wanna eat almost all day. Can a cycle cause cravings like that and if so, is there anything I can do or take to "block" it?

Congratson For me periods and carb cravings were definately a dreaded duo until a wonderful early menopause ended their rule. Some monthssheer will power was not enough to keep from overcarbing.

Thank you for gettin back to me. I will go to that link and read it. I'm back to "normal" now. I weighed Tues and had lost 18lbs this month, my first month. I've tried low carbin it in the past but the withdrawal headaches got to me and I quit. I'm taking Adipex now, and I had some headaches when I first started takin em but for the most part, they're gone. I think I would've lost more but weigh in day caught me on the end of my "cycle"…oh well, It's 18lbs I didn't gain…Thanks for the advice…I sent my question to 2 other PAs and they did not respond..thank yall for answering…I'll add you to my friends list if you're not already on there, k…

Good for you! In my book, any weight loss is a great step. Specially to keep it going through a cycle. That is my trigger. Keep up the great work!

Oh you bet 'cha! Man, I become a carb craving monster before mine. Sheesh! I hate it. It's like I can't control myself. Here is a discussion I posted on it. There might be some additional help in there.

For me, knowing what is causing the cravings is half the battle. So if I can figure it out before I get too far into it, I can usually make a few concerted efforts to choose wisely and curb the cravings. Sometimes you just have to use good old fashioned will power. And maybe a lock on the refrigerator. LOL

I have always had trouble with cravings and sometimes wanting to eat all day. Blaming depression has been my answer. Trying to keep track of what I am eating helps sometimes but if I am alone, I really have to be careful. Also I am a big girl and my age is 53.
