l asked my doctor about having some grapefruit, and was told to try a small
amount about 2 hrs after l take my metformin.l did ,and had no side effects
So the advice on this site does work when it comes to,"ask your doctor".

The limitations of it with blood pressure meds is that it binds with the med and prevents it from doing what it should. It makes the blood pressure meds less effective. It doesn't have a "side effect" we feel or see except in that our lipid panels might not be as good as they could be. I love grapefruit, but now I don't eat it. I miss it.

Hi! I just wanted to say "amen" to your post. It never hurts to ask, and that includes asking your healthcare provider. I always suggest to clients that they keep a list of questions and, each time they return to their doc's office for a visit, to whip out that list and go through it. Knowledge is power!

People also have to watch eating grapefruit when taking vytorin. There is an insigme that doubles the power of vytorin in the liver. Found that out from a pharmasist. I love grapefruit—ruby reds—and cannot eat them on days I take vytorin. I take it everyother day now so when I do get the grapefruit I can eat it one day at least a week weeeeeeeee. Watch interactions all and don't let doctors just throw this or that med at ya. Check them all out before you purchase them it may save some money for ya if you cannot take the meds safely that the doctors give you. Check side effects on all meds and how they interact with other meds and foods. May God Bless Everyone

There are many medications, like coumadin/warfarin, which are affected in some way by grapefruit. I used to enjoy it, but now avoid it due to its interaction with many meds. Better safe than sorry in my case.

Yes I know what ya mean about really loving grapefruit. As with you have to give it up but once in a while will delete a med and eat a half of a ruby red. May God Bless
