Hello to all of my extended family. On friday, December 3, 2010 I went to the doctors to get my new A1c number and I finally got the results on Monday, December 6, 2010. My old A1c number was 10.8 and now my new A1c number is 5.7. I'm so happy, its gone down almost by half.

I cut eating out at fast food places, I exercised three days a week for over an hour, and switched to diet sodas. I also looked/watched very closely how much sugar and carbs I was eating per day.

Type 2,
Yes, I did the same thing. Cut out all fast food and started cooking with real food. No processed, no boxed, no canned pre-made and no frozen pre-made food, and no diet sodas. All of my food made from scratch except bread. Just can't get that yet. Went from A1C 9.0 to Dec.2010 6.0. Lost 30 pounds (no exercise yet). Had to laugh when the diabetic nurse told me to carry gummy bears in my purse because now I have low sugars. Too funny, all that work and I am told to eat sugar. Lowest I have had with the shakes was 58.
Congrats and watch for the lows too.

If you don't want the gummy bears, dried fruits may work for you. I carry dried apricots or raisins or dried cranberries with me on my jogs and walks.
