Hello everyone!

I am a graduate student at the Carnegie Mellon University trying to recruit
group members with type 2 diabetes to take one or two 25 minute survey. I am doing my thesis on designing a tool for social support after diagnosis of type 2 diabetes, and I am also working with a research group that is working on support communities and trustworthy information online for chronic illness.

The first survey shows a series of scenes of what could be a possible tool or service for people with diabetes, and asks your option about it. At the end, it asks for your email for the chance to fin a $50 gift card.

The survey link is: http://qtrial.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_37y12Y...

The second survey is about your experience with diagnosis, finding information about diabetes, and how you have used support communities such as tudiabetes. At the end, you will be asked to provide your email for the chance to win a $200 gift card.

This survey link is:

If you can do both surveys, it would be such a tremendous help. It is incredibly important to know your opinions and experiences because you are what matters! Thank you all for your help in this process. I strongly believe in Diabetic Connect and the benefits of online peer support. We want to design helpful tools, and publish our work so that health care providers can support peer programs.

Thank you!

I would like to offer a testimonial that I have been working with Lauren on her various rounds of surveying and will be participating in the finale of the project. Lauren has been absolutely amazing to work with!!!

I believe the more participants in the project the better the chances for finding us the help, answers, and resources that we need as diabetics, as a family and as a community.

By helping Lauren, you will be helping yourself, me, and the rest of us. Knowledge is power!!! Let our voices be heard!!!

I have just done the surveys, they are very interesting and I encourage others to participate as well. The questions are all about how others can help us and how we get help from different types of people and how they react and perceive us. Also about how we fell we are being taken care of and how our diabetes concerns are being addressed. It's a good chance to speak out about what we aren't getting, whats good in our lives and how things can get better and easier.

I'm hoping to be able to continue on with this study!
