Hi and welcome to dc. I was having a lot of trouble keeping my levels down too on the pill my doc gave me even watching carbs too! I got put on two different insulins and that's all changed now. I'm in great tight control of my blood sugar now plus I feel soo much better! I take a 24 hour insulin in the morning and take another insulin with food. Insulin has been a God send for me. It might be an option for you to discuss with your doctor. I'm glad my doc put me on it. I have great control now. If I do rise I cover myself with the shorter acting insulin. This regiment works well for me. The pill did not do a thing for me. Next time you visit your doctor discuss different options for your treatment plan. There are many options avaiable. Good luck and God bless.

Hi and welcome to DC family You did not mention which meds your are on and at what strength it is. keep track of your numbers and show them to your doctor he may change your meds. keep us post here on what your doctor says. Also i dont know what your carb intake is you may need to lower them.

Hello and welcome
I use the book The Calorie King it has all that info in it and even covers eatting out .Portion size and whats in I use a scale aswell .
I like to eat 5 little meals a day rather then three big meals and two snaks
I eat less now then ever before. I eat a lot better then now too for I look at each little meal as a meal this has helped me a lot I dont even buy the snak foods.
I hope this helps
Best wishes

January it will be 34 years I have been a type 1 diabetic.. You first need to know that no matter how good you are, nobody is perfect so don't put too much pressure on yourself if you have high blood sugars.. If your blood sugars are high and no matter what you are doing to help it does not work, you may need to inject insulin.. Many type 2's need insulin and after a few years, the pills lose effect with many people… As far as your doctor not telling you much about diabetes.. Typical!!!
