Hi everyone, I would like to know if someone could help me? I exercise 4 days a week and try to watch what I eat I have done Atkins for 7 months and weigh more now than when I started in March. Could someone tell me how you have lost weight? I am almost to the point that if I eat salad and chicken and gain, why not eat the donut. I am controlling my BG but the weight is killing me, I'm scared. I'll admit that sometimes I do eat something I should't, but not to the point of gaining so much.

You may want to try an online food journal like at www.livestrong.com and check out "My Plate D" under the tools section. The website will help you keep records of your intake and expense of calories, fat, proteins, etc. It's an awesome free resource!!!

My tips for weight loss (24 lbs) has been to drink more water (64 oz daily), exercise as often as I can, eat more often but eat less food (I eat 5-6 times per day), I have cut out high carb foods like potatoes, pasta and rice except for occasional indulgences. I try to swap healthier ingredients for less nutritious ones, and measure my serving sizes. I have cut out sugared desserts and beverages. This is not to say that I have never had a regular Coke or never had a doughnut but I use my head.

A lot of times working on the outside starts by working on the inside.

Hello, Did you try lean cuisines, or smart ones for most of your meals? They are a little high in salt, but I lost about 65 pounds in a year when I started eating them and cut out all junk food. How long do you exercise for ? What kind of exercise are you doing? I exercise 30-40 min a day, and my job is pretty active so that helps. Don't give up, maybe your doctor should test your thyroid too, there could be an underlying problem that can be fixed easily. Good luck!

I found it helpful my first 3 months with diabetes to keep a food log. After that I had a pretty good idea what to eat (and not eat). Do you have a meal plan in addition to following Atkins? Sustained weight loss is typically a combination of eating the proper amount of calories to support the weight you want to be and exercising appropriately to your situation. Atkins can be a little high in protein and fats, depending on your choices. I would suggest using a booklet like Calorie King to look up what you are eating, record all your calories-fats-carbs-protein for each meal and snack, and going with lower fat choices and smaller amounts of protein. It also helps if whatever carbs you do eat come from vegetables, whole grain choices and fruit in moderation. (Resist the donut!)
I hope this helps. Good luck, and welcome to the site!

Thank you I am hoping to get back in the swing of things after Thanksgiving, right now moderation on everything. I love measuring spoons and cups.
