welcome! my girlfriend actually has a similar issue but she's a non diabetic…we blend up half a banana and it helps. i can relate with feeling like 85 is too low - your body is adjusting to lower amounts and in time 85 wont feel so bad. it took 6 months for my body to get use to 80-120 after being 300 to 500 for so long. :) best wishes and good luck my friend…

Hey Lynn, welcome to the community. Well, this is a double edged sword isn't it? I would say that the juice could get you out of a low, but 85 is not a low really. So what you want is foods that have some carbs and some protein or fat in them so the carbs will last longer. The juice can bring you up, but it may also send you into a big crash.

Also, are you taking any diabetic meds? If so, talk to your doctor about that and see if they can be lowered or removed. That could be your trouble.

First of all, welcome to our website/community/family!!!

I would recommend talking with your gastric doctor because I'm sure you are not the only person to experience the issues with diabetes/gastric. Even the Physician Assistant should be able to help with that so a quick phone call can give you the help you need.

Also, there are various gastric support groups online (ie Yahoo) that can help you share experiences, tips, tricks and support for pre-op and post-op gastric and/or lapband questions.

My wife (happy anniversary, honey) had hers done last year but is not and was not diabetic so we don't have the answer you are seeking. Perhaps other members here might. My wife has dropped an astounding over 125 pounds since the surgery and another 25 or so before. She is just a few pounds from her target.

I hope you are doing well with mind, body and soul. It is great to have you with us and we would love to hear more from and about you.
