Or, How did I survive the weekly Ladies' Night Out With Mom (aka The Cake Lady)?
After my ill-fated adventure in overcarbing with corn on the cob at lunch, I had serious doubts if I should take on The Cake Lady challenge. But with test kit at the ready I went.
Both Wedding Cupcake Sister and Chocolate Fountain Sister where there. They were dessertless. I was surprised.
Three nieces showed up. One with 2 logs worth of slice n bake Halloween cookies for dessert. She assured us they were freshly baked. She claims they are the only kind of cookies her 3 year old son can bake. He had made some earlier for Halloween to hand out to The Cake Lady's friends.
The Cake Lady was pleased to see the cookies. She said "I did't make the Apple Salad I was planning for dessert. I didn't have enough salad dressing."
"Not bad", I thought "about 48 cookies, 6 adults, 1 PWD, a 3 year old, and a 9 month old."
We enjoyed Hamburger Helper Nachos. The Cake Lady has been experimenting lately with the many uses of Hamburger Helper. It was accompained by a three fruit and marshmallow salad.
I calculated (OK I quessed) what the carbs were. Then we ate dinner.
Then The Cake Lady announced besides the cookies, we have cream puffs and flan in the fridge.
Upon hearing this, Wedding Cupcake Sister gasped and said "Oh, I forgot I have flan in my fridge also. I was going to bring it tonight. I wont be able to eat it all myself before Thursday when I go back to Kazakhstan."
Wedding Cupcake Sister's new son-in-law's mother brought flan to The Cake Lady's 80th Birthday Party. She made two as thank you gifts. "To be taken home and enjoyed by The Cake Lady and Wedding Cupcake Sister and not shared".
Okay, maybe not a direct quote.
Two hours after dinner with 4 spoonfuls of flan for dessert. BG 93.

Thanks. Next week is a twofer. Tuesday Ladies Night Out and then The Cake Lady hosts Thanksgiving. Good thing her building has four floors, I may need some extra stair climbing.

There you go...a few times up and down those and your blood sugars should be doing just fine! LOL. I'm serious, when are you going to write that book? It would on the lines of an Erma Bombeck bit...it would have people rolling on the floor. I know I love these little quips.

I was shocked. I am in constant fear that carbs can be acquired by air when in such close proximity. I did not test the night we made cream cheese and powdered sugar mints. I was rolling hudreds of little balls of carbs by hand. Not to mention inhaling lungs full of powdered sugar air.
