Unless you find a partner or walking club in your area, consider getting music or books from your local library to use while walking your neighborhood, park or mall. Whether you want to listen to the bible, music, fiction or non-fiction titles you can get knowledge and inspiration to keep going. Remember to know your limits as you begin a walking campaign. Don't overdo it or you'll burn out if you end your first several walks in pain. While walking is great exercise, it's not the only kind of exercise that will help you. Anything that you do will help whether that is vacuuming, housekeeping, stretching, stooping or whatever. Exercise does not have to be formal and should be something that you enjoy. If you don't like walking alone, find some things that you do enjoy. Are there any indoor pools near you for swimming? Can you negotiate pricing with a local health club/gym? There are so many things you can do for yourself, by yourself, that will help your mind and body and soul. You are never really completely alone. There are others out there who would like to find you as a friend and walking partner. Check out your local churches, store bulletin boards, or word of mouth with friends and neighbors.
