I'm out of control with eating after I get home from work. My family is not diabetic so they may have food that is not a good choice for me. My desire for food (only when I get home from work, and I'm not hungry) over powers my knowledge of how damaging eating it will be on my health. I really need help to curb my appetite in the afternoon when I first walk into my house.

Greetings and welcome to our website/community/family. Are you an emotional eater or are you so hungry when you get home that you are in a starvation mode to just start raiding the refrigerator??? It's hard to help with the issues you are experiencing if we don't know the cause of them. If you step back to analyze the behavior you may find the cure and what's going to work for you. I have found that having carbs lead to craving more carbs. Perhaps if you start off filling up with a big bottle or glass of water, you may give your mind and body and soul a chance to change the patterns and offer yourself more time to think and plan what to eat or not eat with more consciousness??? There are ways to change behaviors and they come from changing routines. Planning ahead may help you make better decisions and choices. Change is hard but sometimes change is good. Let me know if there's anything that I can say or do to help you.

Howdy & WELCOME to DC Mary!

I'm trying to get an Idea of your living situation. The way that you've put this could be taken 2 ways. The first way that I thought, you are living with your parents, not out of the nest yet. The other way might be you are a working mom with children & perhaps a husband.

The first understanding is tough, since it's not your house and you're just living there. If that is the case I'm gonna need to ponder that a bit.

The second may be more manageable as you are probably mostly in change of grocery shopping. If that is the case perhaps you could just not stock the "goodies" on which you binge. You might taper off on buying those things so perhaps kids and/or hubby don't notice a big cut off.

Jf they do notice and complain, tell them that you need to take care of yourself if they want you to live a life which is free of DM complications. You have been having problems with that food, and you need it to NOT be in your house. DM foods are healthy foods and everyone needs to eat them.

God's blessings to you and yours
