I won!!! I have safely returned home sans cake.
My poor sister still has 16 out of 24 wedding cupcakes she took back to her freezer. Another sister acquired 1/2 of a jumbo box of miniature cream puffs from Costco or Sam's Club. The third sister took custody of the leftover fondue from the chocolate fountain.
It wasn't an easy victory.
When Wedding Cupcake Sister saw the anniversary cake she called for it's removal from the party. But Chocolate Fountain Sister defended my right to have it there. She insisted that with 40 guests we needed more dessert. I had played on her sympathes earlier. She remembered the year The Cake Lady had given her, her husband and their three daughters 5 seperate full size cakes for Valentine's Day, while they were all living in the same house.
When guests arrived I very carefully played the crowd. The wedding cupcakes did not have The Cupcake Lady's frosting on them. A friend of the bride had iced and decorated the cupcakes. At the wedding several guests had told The Cupcake Lady they liked her frosting better. Eleven of them were at the birthday party. I had a double chance of getting them to choose the cake. "The cake has Mom's good frosting on it and poor me I can't eat it since I have diabetes." It worked - they all ignored the inferior cupcakes. A few asked for a piece to eat later at home. No one complained when their piece was enough for two or three servings. My husband even finally got to eat some of our anniverary cake. And I ate two miniature cream puffs.
Unfortunately I have not made much progress on my plan to get rid of the expected December 3rd Birthday Cake. My Lemon Cake Nephew was not able to come to the party. He was at work. Good news, I learned his brother's favorite cake is spice. Bad news, Spice Cake Nephew lives 75 miles away and will not be in town when the cake should be here.
I wonder if their mother, Wedding Cupcake Sister would notice a cake in her freezer? She will be leaving on Thursday to go to her other home in Kazakhstan and will not be back until Spring…if Chocolate Fountain Sister and/or Cream Puff Sister will help me get into her house…

You know, you could write such a funny book on this. It is so wonderful and funny and the diabetes just adds that special twist to it. Really...Anniversary cake lady. =0)

It would be a tell all. The pain o suffering from Multiple Cake Disorder. Add in Chocolate Fountain Phobia and it will be a best seller. Weeks at #1 NY Times Best Seller list.
Oprah, Dr. OZ, the late night shows. A big Hollywood producer will see James' Cake Opera. A big movie deal!!!
If no movie, at the very least we can make a stage play. I have a niece who worked for a theater company sewing costumes. Her soon to be hubby builds stage sets. Now we just need someone with a barn. Then before you know it we could all be touring the country. Then it's Broadway!!!

This is almost as good as the soap opera "As the World turns"! LoL!

Maybe we could produce a soap opera of our own "AS THE CAKE TURNS" or something like that.

I like how you think!!
I've been hoping to make a TV comeback every since my debut on the Food Network. My dear beagle, my dear hubby and myself all appeared in the Chex Mix Celebration. Beagle of course was the star. People kept coming up to my sisters and saying "I saw your sister on TV." How they envied my stardom.
Oh, I almost forgot that was my national debut. The Cake Lady and her four daughters were caught on film at the Albuquerque Balloon festival a few years earlier.
Cream Puff Sister told the news guy "no" when he asked to film us watching the balloons. I convinced all of us to go for it. He mainly thought Cream Puff Sister was a hot babe. He had to use all of us to get her on camera.
Come on James, help me appear on the wide screen again!!!
