Olives...Have you tried them?

When I go to a grocery store with a good olive bar, I usually fill a container with some of my favorites.
I've noticed that after eating some my bs goes down! I'm delighted, of course! I don't know whether it's the olive oil they are packed in, or what! Have any of you had this happen to you?
Are there any other foods that cause blood sugar to head downward?

I know that cucumbers eaten plain will lower my levels. I have also heard that a shot of wheatgrass or some cactus will also lower levels. I have not tried to see about olives, but that's because they are not my favorite. I cook with them, but I don't eat them alone.

When first diagnosed I started drinking 8+ glasses of water and added a salad to my supper. I also started eating broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, pickles, cucumbers and some other low carb vegetables and my blood sugar started dropping fast. Went form numbers in the 200-300 range to almost normal numbers in about 6 weeks. A1C went from 14.1 to 5.9 in about 4 months. My A1C has remained below 6.0 for the last year and a half. My last was 5.2.

At first I cut all starchy foods to just one serving per meal. By testing before and 1 hour after eating I was able to figure what foods were spiking my blood sugar. I soon found that starchy foods like bread and most foods made of grains along with pasta, rice, corn, potatoes, oatmeal, cereals, chips, crackers, cakes, cookies, candy, soda, fruits, fruit juices and most foods that contain more than 5-6 net carbs per serving as found on the package label all spiked my blood sugar.

Good luck

I hadn't noticed that, of course I haven't eaten olives for quite a while as I need to keep salt intake down.

I'm told that eating cucumbers lower BG#s also - but haven't tried it either. Just smelling cukes starts me gagging.

Also Nopales (cactus) is said to do that. I'm in the middle of a major move but plan once I get settled, I was thinking of looking up how to fix them and give it a try.
