I just went to a free seminar at the local hospital the other night hosted by a endocrinologists. It was so informitive and helpful! My diabetes specialist told me about it, she's so helpful. But the best part was they giving out free meters. I was given a Bayer contour usb with free strips on the way in and on the way out the gave me a regular contour meter with strips also. What a score! That made my day! Just need to share.

Is that for the contour strips? Because I looked on line and the prices were no where near that for these srips?

No, the way I read it is for a Reli-on brand (Walmart, Sams Club store brand) meter and strips. You DO have to buy their meter, but the strips are less expensive.

The folks who"GIVE"' you a "free" meter have the prices on the strips jacked up high enough thea eventually you pay for the meter, sometimes many times over by the time you need a new meter.

At Walmart or Sam's you can get the meter for 18.00 and the strips for around 15.00 for 50 strips or 30.00 for 100 strips. That is cheaper than anywhere else.

I hear ya. I found buying on line is so much cheaper, about $55 for 100 strips free shipping

Wonderful! Sounds wonderful! (really!)

Now you gotta buy test strips to use with the meters when you run out. And with the free meters you seem to run out of strips very quickly.
