I GOT THIS INFORMATION FROM MY TYPE 2 DIABETIC GRANDMA, I AM TYPE 1 AND HAVE MANY MORE RELATIVES THAT ARE DIABETIC TOO. PLEASE IF ANYONE KNOWS ABOUT AFREZZA PLEASE GIVE ME MORE INFORMATION OR TELL ME IF WORKS GOOD IF YOU TAKE AND ANY SIDE AFFECTS.

No problem! That's really what we're ALL here for, to get information and support one another in controlling our BG#s. I've had DM since 1995 and I've had highs and lows, had trouble controlling my emotions and depressions too. The nice thing to know is that I wasn't a freak when I went through those things.

Blessings to you and yours

The last inhaled insinulin was withdraw from the market because almost no one bought it, it wasn't very good and there were major concerns over tumors in the lung. Afrezza is still in development but seems to solve.some of the tumor problems. I still don't see a big market for it so who knows.if it will get FDA approval and stay on the market for any length of time. I wouldnt expect it to be available any time soon.

I have not used Afrezza, nor do I know anyone who has. I didn't know that there had been an inhaled insulin on the market already. I had heard about trials for it but that's all. So I did a search on Afrezza to find out. Here are a couple of the results:
This from "Fierce Biotech Daily Monitor" dated Oct 11, 2010: http://www.fiercebiotech.com/special-reports/....

Here is information from the developer's website : http://www.mannkindcorp.com/ProductsInDevelop... If you click on the "more" arrow just immediately to the lower right os Afrezza paragraph, it will open a 2 page PDF doc (patience, pdf open slowly) about the drug and its supposed benefits.

From what I can tell from the reports I've read, Afrezza has not yet been OKd for use by the FDA. The next regulatory hurdle seems to be sometime in December 2010.

I pray this helps

Blessings to you and yours
James

THANK YOU JAMES FOR THE BLESSINGS AND I GIVE BLESSINGS BACK TO YOU TOO. I AM STILL WONDERING WHO IT WORKS FOR TYPE 1 OR TYPE 2 CAUSE MOST OF THE MEDS THAT ARE COMING OUT SEEM TO ONLY SUPPORT TYPE 2 AND BECAUSE MY BLOOD SUGARS SHOOT UP LIKE A ROCKET AND SINK LIKE A ROCK I WOULD LIKE TO FIND SOMETHING THAT WILL HELP ME CONTROL MY BLOOD SUGARS BETTER.

You're most certainly welcome LittleJ. As KD wrote above it's not currently available for either t1 OR t2 as it is awaiting FDA approval. It as KD wrote probably won't be available anytime soon.

(PS: you don't have to SHOUT LittleJ we're PWDs not Hard of Hearing - LoL!)
