I suffer from migranes and I go long periods without eating. When I do this, I get head aches and I get really shaky. Recentley it has gotten a lot worse. Also, I have gained almost 30lbs. I don't know if thats my fault exactly or if there is something medically wrong..

I have to say Wendy go to the doctor. I also suffer from migranes and if I go long periods of time without eating I really get them and then them meds I take for them well help but the increase my bs when I get them and it just kind of goes in a circle. Have any of your medschanged recently or has there been any increase in you medication doses? Call your doctor please diabetes and migranes combined is nothing to mess with especially if there is weight gain involved with them.

Howdy WendySue
Welcome to DC.!

Here's a website which has good general information on Diabetes Mellitus ("DM"): There they have on page 3 thesymptoms of DM that you may experience. You can also find a lot of other information about DM on the other pages of the site.

I sincerely pray that what you have is not DM, but if it is DM you're in a very good place to help you get control of your DM before it controls you.

May God's richest blessings be to you and yours.

Are you frequently thirsty? Are you urinating often? do yyou wake up at night to go to the bathroom 2 or more times? Have you had blurry vision at times? Do you seem tired/ sleepy more so than normal? These are some of the symptoms. If you have some of these got to the doctor where a simple blood test by pricking the finger and testing the sample on a meter will tell if your glucose reading is too high. Good Luck! Type 1 diabetics are those whose pancreas do not make any insulin and they must take insulin daily while type 2 diabetics can make some insulin and most times can be controlled by taking an oral pill and getting some exercise daily but both are as serious a disease as the other.
