It would be a good idea, when you are with diabetes 30 or 40 years, to contact people to get you a letter that they know you to have diabetes. Not everybody will be alive by the time you reach 50 years of fun.
Also have to get an eye operation on March-3 for a catarac on left eye!
Always something to look forward to!

JB:

just a few quick words. First of all, congratulations to you on your upcoming 50 years milestone. Your attitude is perhaps one of the keys to making it this far and your testimony is an inspiration to us who have yet to make it through our first year.

There have been many fears, feelings and frustrations for each of us so I am quite certain the challenges and changes in your life and lifestyle have been noteworthy and worthy of the recognition you'll soon be receiving for the 50 year mark.

With that said, I wish you the very best with the cataract surgery and while I know for you this is the first operation, know that this is a very common surgery for the medical community and I am confident that all with go well. This is not to say that you shouldn't have the fears but you have been so strong with everything else that has gone on in your life. I am confident that all will go well for you and I am expecting an update. :) You are in my thoughts and prayers.

It is great to have you within our family-community for the inspiration that you bring to us whether we are newly diagnosed or going through the up and down roller coaster of emotions over a year, five years, ten years or whatever amount of time we've had diabetes touching our lives.

In short: Thank you!!!

I've heard the differernce between major surgery and minor surgery is: minor surgery on someone else. Major surgery is the same surgery done on yourself!

BTW: I had cataract surgery on my left eye within a year of my Dx. I had no problems to speak of.

Howdy JB

Sorry you're having trouble finding people to attest to your DM who knew you had DM 50 years ago. The Joslin Medal would have been nice to get. I pray you can find someone to help you get it.

I will be praying for you regarding your cataract operation.

Blessings

Jay what a nice long reply you did put together. Much thanks for that.

James I have enough people to assure that I will get the medal unless there is something I didn't count on.

Thanks to you both.

JB.
