I was recently diagnosed with IGT - very little information was given to me regarding this and the internet seems to overwhelm me at times. I would like to know if there are things I should start doing and things I should stop doing. What should I be eating and what should I not be eating? Are there any websites I should read? Is this reversible?
A little history on me - I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2008 and Early Stage of Dementia in 2009, IGT in May of 2010. I am 35 years of age, have 4 kids and a grandson and live in Ohio. I run 2.5 miles a day and eat mostly fresh fruit and veggies, chicken, fish and when I crave red meat, I usually eat venison as this is a leaner meat. I have lost 47 lbs but would love to lose another 50 to get to my goal weight.

It sounds like you are taking steps in the right direction. What did your doctor suggest as treatment? What were the numbers in the test?
You can start with sites like or to see what they say and go from there.

Hi and welcome. Unfortnuately I can't answer your question. My opnion would be to have a long discussion with my doctor to be on the safe side and ask him/her all these questions that you have. He/she will be able to answer best for your situation. I hope this helps in some small way. I feels its always best to consult with the doctor first. Just to be on the safe side and to keep any misinformation from happening.besides the doctor knows how all your conditions effect another. Be safe.
