GP is where i can;t digest food, like most people.. i have to eat no more than 4 tablespoons of food 6 times a day. all non fat. if i over eat it can cause my intestines to clog up. intense pain, i usually have to spend alot of time in bathroom and i drink alot of liquids. it takes 90 minutes for me to digest a tbls. of food. my doctor says he thinks my vargus nerve was injured( it pushes food thru) when i had my gall bladder surgery. please tell doctor to be so very careful when you have any stomach surgery.. and the gp caused my diabetes. i can eat most potatoes dishes, only vegs. i can eat is carrotts, no other vegs. and only peaches with no skin… it may come down to a feeding tube in time. most people who have gp end up with one… yes, have them give you a motility test. its painless but long. pain, vomiting, loose bowles, heart burn, weakness. some of the signs.. let me know how it goes

take care

Not sure what gastropareses is. Was in hospital last week with colonostopy and upper GI. Going tomorrow for a ultrasound. Maybe galbladder. I always ask for copies of my lab work and lipase was elevated so by researching on computor, I self diagnosed myself as having pancreatic attack. Could it possible be this gastropareses?

Hi plushy, gastroparesis is new challenge for you.
Here are few tips for you:
1. Eat several small meals throughout the day. This can help to ease the burden on the stomach also maintain your sugar level.
2. Cut down on fiber intake. Avoid raw citrus fruits, nuts, beans, broccoli, and other similar fiber, as fiber is difficult to digest.
3. Avoid fatty and fried foods.
4. The most important, have word with your doctor or dietitian before changing your diet, as you have two problems that are directly affecting by your food intake. It’s better to have expert advice.

Howdy Plushy, and welcome to DC!

I am sorry to learn of your Dxs of DM and gastroparesis. But since you're Dx'd, I'm glad you're here. I believe you've come to the right place and doing a good thing - asking questions.

I've heard about gastro, (don't have it - but do have IBS) but havent looked it up. In case you haven't looked heres something on Gastro from Mayo clinic:

I pray someone with gastro will see and answer this for you.

May God bless you and yours richly!
