I was diagnosed with type 2 about 2 months ago. I am doing my best with the news and making changes each day. Today I got a call from the doc and she told me I have too much protien in my urine and added Enalapril to the Janumet I am taking. I am 49 years old and kind of freaked out about the whole kidney thing. I have just started seeing the round of docs that go along with diabetes, eye doc, foot doc, diet doc and now this. I am scared scared scared. I was also told I have arthritis and have to see that kind of doc. I could just cry. Thank you for having this site.

Wow, that is a lot to try to deal with all at once. My heart is there for you in that fight. This site has helped me a whole lot, I know you will get some great pointers here.

Have you met with a nutririonist yet? Perhaps they could help you reduce your protine in your diet. I know we have to be careful not to overdo the meat eating thing...it's hard. I love meat, but I love life too, so one had to go..LOL
I try to keep my protien coming from nuts and beans more than meat, but I don't know if that helps with your kidneys or not.

If you are into natural remidies, I have a drink that can help with arthirtis if it isn't chronic. Let me know if you want it and I will give it to you. I use it daily and it keeps me off meds for now, so that makes me happy.

Hang in there, it is overwhelming at first, but once you find your groove, you will do better.

Thank you to all of you. I don't feel so alone now. Gabby I would love that drink info. when you have a minute.

Something wierd happened yesterday, I took a short walk and came back and felt awful took my blood sugar and it was 64, yikes I freaked out and had a coke. Later it was back to 111. So wierd to me all this cause & effect stuff. Thank you again everyone for your support. Laurie

Aloe Vera Joint Juice

8oz cold water
2-4oz Aloe vera gel
2T agave nectar
2T apple cider vinegar

It takes some getting used to, and if you increase the water, the vinegar gets diluted. Give it a week to get going in your system.

I AM A SURVIOR OF KIDNEY DIEASE, KIDNEY FAILURE,AND DIALYSIS. I HAD A TRANSPLANT AND DOING WELL. HOPEFULLY YOUR DOCTOR HAS YOU ON A RENAL DIET. I WAS ON ASPECIAL DIET INCLUDING LOW PROTEIN. STILL TODAY AFTER MY TRANSPLANT I AM STILL ON SPECIAL DIET. I THOUGHT I COULD NEVER DO THE DIABETIC DIET WHEN I WAS YOUNGER BUT TODAY MY DIET IS MORE STRICKER. I NOW WATCH POTASSIUM, PROTEINS,PHOSPHEROUS,MAGNESIUM,AND OF COURSE SUGARS, CARBS AND SODIUM. GO FIGURE..I CAN'T SURVIVE ON … AIR. I DO WELL EXCEPT I STILL LOVE CARBS…ITS HARD BUT I JUST HAVE TO DO IT. EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE I CHEAT BUT GO RIGHT BACK TO IT THE NEXT DAY, I LEARN NOT TO BEAT MYSELF UP OVER IT.

Wow you sound like me. I have been Type 2 since 1990. I worked until 2003 but went on disability because of my back. I have degenerstive disc disease in my back. Have done the shot(steroid shots) also. Wow blood sugar really went up. I have neuropathy in my feet, and I think it is starting in my hands. I take Lyrica and it seems to help some. And I also am on insulin and janumet plus pain pills. I take a high blood pressure medicine that is new that Doc says helps with the kidneys. It is Diovan. Anyway good luck to us all. Test Test Test is the only way to know for sure if you are high or low. Oh no I sound like the Dlife people. LOL
