Dear Amy
I have a question that has never been answered to my satisfaction. Am I a Diabetic? I have been treated for the last four years as if I were diabetic, but only after I was admitted into the hospital for 8 days due to a real bad kidney infection, suffice to say I did not do anything about it till it was Black.
My understanding is that even for a healthy person an infection can raise a person's glucose level and the antibiotic I was on raises glucose levels. For the last four years I have controlled my glucose with diet and exercise. My A1c has never been over 6.5 after leaving the hospital and has fallen since that time. It is now at 5.5. I know that it has taken over four years to get it down to the 5.5 level but I still feel that maybe somehow I am not a Diabetic.
Confused and in denial

Harlen is right you are a diabetic, you can check with your doctor to make sure but my last A1c was 5.2 and i am still a diabetic. I try very hard to eat right, excrise and take my meds. Just stay with the program and you will be fine
