Feeling Anxious

Hello All!

I'm a newbie here. Had GD while pregnant with my son (Dec 07-Mar 08). Was able to control some with diet and exercise, but needed bedtime insulin (30 units at the end).

Then, at a physical in November '09 I was diagnosed Pre-D. Since then I have dramatically changed my diet, lost about 20 lbs (15 more for my goal wt.) and started a regular exercise routine.

Unfortunately I spaced/put off my follow up. Now a year later I have an appt Wed, and I am alternately anxious/stressed/scared about my results.

Even with my improvements I am still feeling some symptoms, but have not been testing since I can't afford the strips w/o a Rx. Hoping the doc will have good news and will script me for monitoring help.

Thanks for letting me unload! I am very excited to explore the site more and take advantage of the support and knowledge of the community. I know my diabetic fight will be on-going (GD increases the risk and it runs in the family) and I look forward to the help in my quest!

Howdy from Texas Rocky!!! Welcome to the most wonderful site for anyone dealing with, of there own or a loved one or friend, any form of Diabetes. The people here really "ROCK" I love it and I am sure you will to. I agree with Harlen do not fret over it. it will be what ever it will be and the more you fret the more you will drive your sugar up so do your best to relax and just not worry, ya I know its hard but you can do it!!!! I don't know if you have a Wal-mart but they sell a machine , called ReliOn and it is 9.00 and the strips for it are 35.00 for a 100 strips, just in case you need them and he does not give you an Rx. If you wish you may add me as a friend.

Good Luck & God Bless,

Welcome… you're in good hands here in terms of having people to chat with about all kinds of topics… the good and bad. I have never "not met" some of the coolest people as I have on this site. I see a bunch of genuine caring members like myself on here. We may not have all of the answers but we discuss all kinds of things besides just our numbers, medication, and the ups and downs we have. We are diabetics (or friends of) but there's more to us than that. Whatever is on your mind, in your heart, or on your plate is welcomed here. Need a friend? Click on the photo to the left and add me. We're in this together!!! So glad you found us. Check out my recent discussion of "resources" for possible help or guidance on strips, medical help, etc. I've listed some places to turn that may or may not help. I wish you the best.

Good luck, and please come back and let us know how it goes. You know the drill, even if you are still pre-D, and I hope you are, just keep eating and exercising like a diabetic, and hopefully you'll keep pushing it further and further down the road.
