Pennsylvania was a sauna yesterday! That was my excuse for not exercising!! Hate sweat! Wisdom from my Mom : "Horses sweat…Men Perspire…and Women glow" So I was glowing up a storm yesterday! Nicer today, 68 degrees…so I'll go lift those hand weights for a bit. Wishing you all strength to stay oncourse today!

That is why I stay inside for most of the summer. Just go from home, to car, to work, to car and home again. LOL But I am looking forward to the cooler weather coming sometime soon…I pray!! ~:-)

We had a very hot summer here in Northeastern Ohio, but today was overcast and some rain and about 65 degrees. Hope you can all stay cool in Ca. I couldn't imagine weather that hot.

I am in Florida, and very use to the heat, although it has been extremely hot even for us this year. Today has been nice, but we currently have a front/tropical depression over us, and it has been raining for the past 4 hours which cools things down quite a bit. Should be the same tomorrow it seems, so looking forward to another pleasantly cooler day!!! ~:-) Thanks Tropical Depression #16! ~:-)

We are having really comfortable temperatures where we are at which is Nebraska though this summer it was sometimes pretty hot,and very warm,and very humid but now it is staying in the 70's during the day but has been getting down in the 40's overnight!

I reside in New Mexico and love it here for many, many reasons, not the least of which is that it's so dry here. That generally makes for very pleasant summers, even when it's 100+ degrees. I find that as I have lost weight, particularly since my diagnosis, I tend to stay much cooler in general, and so don't have to run my swamp cooler set as low as I have in the past. That I can still effectively use a swamp cooler here is a complete bonus as well…air conditioning is WAY more expensive than evaporative coolers, but they aren't for everyone…only where the humidity is consistently under 40%.

I would have to say that this summer was a tad milder than others I have experienced here in NM, and for that I am very thankful! But when I do inevitably get hot I drink lots of water with ice, try to stay as still as I can and my favorite trick is to take a shower just before I go to bed then race to bed and do my own form of evaporative cooling! It can be utterly blissful!

I now live in SF bay area and it's 94°f with not a lot of humidity (like in the midwest or FL). I try to keep from using the AC if I can. After sundown I open the windows and use a fan to pump the cool air into the house, then in the morning shut down the windows and slide through the heat of the day. So far it's worked well.

But then again I was comfortable in my car in LV summers with my "twin 55 AC" (two windows down @ 55 mph). I am sure if Jem was here with me we'd need to turn the AC on due to her COPD.

UPDATE: @ 3:30 pm the sensor for the weather channel reads 102°f. But checking the heat index it is supposed to feel like 98°f. It's getting up to 86° inside the house so I guess it's about time to turn on the AC? Maybe.

I can't complain, 73 right now in Dallas, with an expected high of 83. I'm happy! We actually had a pretty mild summer this year. I know a lot of the rest of the country took a beating, so you all have my sympathy.

it's actually been fairly cool here in tn for a few days…sweet sweet relief. i'm from cali, and occasionally return to visit family. the last time we were in bakersfield it was 110+, but it was a dry heat, so it felt like when it's in the low to mid 90's here in the south. it's soooooo very humid here. and gabby, i know it's worse down there in fl. my cali and denver family can't even visit us in the summer months. they stay violently ill because they are not used to the humidity. if only we could have the average temps of cali here, summer would be blissful. being able to sleep with the windows open is a favorite of mine. gabby, do you go high or low in the heat? i tend to bottom out, but i sweat like crazy. i used to work in a factory that, even in winter, was at the very least 120 degrees inside. we had those very fantabulous bandana thingies. there were coolers full of them soaking in ice water spread out over the whole factory. very handy, indeed.

I heard about the 113 degree weather in LA yesterday! wow...I will stop complaining about our hot summer this year in Florida. He had heat indexes that were up to 110, but not the actual temperature.
Unfortunately, I have been out in it a good bit this summer and it has played hard on my numbers.

I did find a neat little thing that goes around my neck. I soak it in water and it plumps up and keeps cool for hours in the hot sun. I use it when I go out campaigning or walking. It does help a lot. Plus I drink a lot of water and if I need electrolytes put back in, I found unsweetened coconut water is great for that without the carbs of gatoraid and without the sodium as well.

Hello Gabby;

we hit 104 tuesday and suposed to hit 106 today. Stay in till dark and walk amoung the 'CREATURES OF THE NIGHT.' Show no emotions for the may need blood or brains. We're all to smart for that. Stay inside and sleep, seems to help. Do your activities at night, and pray that it's not going to be a triple digit day.
When it's over 90° it's tomuch for me. When the humidity hits over 5% I have trouble breathing. Arizona is not for wimps.
