Why is it that on all the cable channels you can find cooking shows for people with out health problems. But every one complains that we live in an obese country.
As for myself I was never tought how to eat healthy or even plan a menu.

Very intersting news. I spoke with Chris Smith the Diabetic Chef today. Really
wonderful guy whose heart and soul are into getting the tools out to us and
getting people back into the kitchen, cooking for our health.
Here is what I found out.

He is actually getting ready to go into production with PBS to do his own show!
How cool is that? He is a contributor to the Diabetic Living Magazine by Better
Homes and Gardens and has been doing this since 1993.

So guys, it looks like we might have our wish after all.
There might be more to come on this, so keep tracking it, so you can be the
frist to hear about his new venture!

Its going to be wonderful to watch someone cook healthy, making it look appealing and tasting good. Diabetic can cook for the rest of their families(the non-diabetics) and they will actually like it too.!!!

I see your point. They don't have a version of Drive-in's, Diners and Dives for Diabetics now do they?
Or do they?
You know, converting recipes is not always that hard to do. I watch a lot of the things like "Good Eats" and we can change up a few ingredients to get a similar product.

I started a discussion on "How to make your recipes Healthier" (http://www.diabeticconnect.com/discussions/830?last_viewed_at=2008-09-20+09%3A50%3A28) that lists some things we can substitute in the cooking of our favorite meals. Sometimes, you can make it healthy and no one will know. Now that is SWEEET! Or as John C. and I like to say, it is the salsa on the omlet.

If you have a favorite recipe that you want to convert, pop it up and we will see what we can do to make it healthier for you. There are a lot of good cooks here (we kind of have to be) We can help you. At least until you convince the Food Network that the "Decadant Diabetic" show will be a smash hit! LOL

I ENJOY WATCHING THE FOOD CANNELL AND IT'S TRUE THEY DON'T HAVE ANY RECIEPS
FOR DIEABETICS OR ANYONE WITH AN EATIING
DISORDER. THEY SHOULD HAVE A PROGRAM WITH HEALTHY EATING FOR THOSE OF US THAT CAN'T EAT WHAT THEY PERPARE.

Good call and did you notice that they always use foods and things that most diabetics wouldn't have around. I have seen a couple of shows that are for weight loss, but I'm not sure who would lose weight eating what they cook. I guess a bite here and a bite there and we can watch as the rest of our families live it up. I know that is a bad attitude.
