I recently purchased a recommended cookbook from this site and it has a whole chapter devoted to making your favorite recipes healthier. I want to share some things from the book and things I do.
1.Replace cream with evaporated skim milk.
2.Replace cream soups with homemade white sauce (milk, flour, and margarine)and the veggie of your choice
3.Replace honey with Agave Nectar
4.Replace Orange Juice with fresh lemon juice or lime juice
5.Replace potatoes with cauliflower
6.Replace fried potatoes with baked sweet potato "fries" or other veggies like carrots or zucchini
7.Replace wraps with low carb wraps
8.Replace Pasta with spaghetti squash or Dreamfield pastas
9.Replace cooked veggies with steamed or raw veggies
10.Replace salt with fresh and dried herbs and spices
There are tons of ways to reduce the sodium, fat, carbs and calories in our foods.
