Hello extended family. I've been feeling really sick. I woke up out of sound sleep this morning (4:10 AM) freezing and all my muscles tensed. Needless to say, the morning did not start off well. I was able to go back to sleep but when I did re-awake I felt as if I didn't sleep at all. Also, I'm not hungry. every time I try and eat something I feel sick to my stomach. I think that I'm diseased; other than having diabetes.
What do you do when you are sick and can't really eat anything? I've tried to call the doctors but I have to wait because they are not open this weekend. Can anyone help me. I feel so sick.

Ginger ale (regular soda) will help with tummy issues. Make sure it is flat to help keep the gas to a minimum. Also, I had an EMT tell me that Pedialite is better for keeping up the electrolytes than something like Gatoraid because it has less sugar and less sodium. Also unsweetened coconut water (not milk) can help you recover your electrolytes as well.
Also avoid dairy, as that is hard for your stomach to deal with.

Keep a very close eye on your BG as it will want to rise while you are sick. And if you are really feeling bad, don't hesitate to consider the emergency clinics.

Here is what the ADA has to say to parents regarding what to do on sick days. It sounds like instructions I received as a T2: http://www.diabetes.org/living-with-diabetes/...

There have also been many discussions about sick days on DC. Here are a few of those discussions which you may mine for further insights: http://www.diabeticconnect.com/discussions/34...

I sincerely pray that this is helpful to you and also that you feel better soon!

When I feel sick like that instead of eating a heavy meal, I eat soup that also has protein in it. low- sodium of course. Also if it's like a cold or something you can get cold- eeze sugar free specifically made for diabetics. Most of the pharmacy stores have them over the counter. Good Luck
