I've only been diagonsed for two I take two kinds of insulin shots daily and pills. You can do it. What's your treatment plan??

I was diagnosed in July of this year. I'm going to Diabetes Ed and exercising and counting carbs. I have been eating much better and I also write down what I eat. I have lost 10 lbs so far, which is a miracle for me! Good luck to you and Welcome here!

I was diagnosed a year ago and still can't seem to accept it fully. I do take my medications as prescribed but I don't diet and excercise as I should and I don't test my blood. I somehow need to get past the wall that is holding me back from making the positive change I know I need to make!

I know it is tough to get a hold of it and es, it can be tough to maintain. The best thing I can recommend and I am sure I have been echoed by others is to test at least 2x a day and take you medication when you are supose to. But the best thing to do is start moving. Excersise will allow your body to better use what insulin it is producing and help kick you metaboloism in to gear. Statrt simple, walk around the block in the evening or if you can park as far away as possible from the store or office and walk. You will be surprised what that cn do toelp. But the most important thing to remember is this is not a death sentance…you can hace a full and normal life. Don't letit get to you. Heck I am on active duty and he only thing my diabetes prevents me from doing is…wellnothing.

Good luck

I was diagnosed in 2003 and yes it was difficult to hear, but you have to take control of it. thats means you have to test your bs at the least 2x a day, but with being newly dx you should probably be testing 4x a day. You want to watch what your eating, I know I used to almost fry everything not anymore I mainly bake, boil, grill. And just because you boil doesn't mean you don't have flavor, I still use my spices just not as much. Just take one step at a time and hopefully then it will come natural. I can't exercise like I want because of my back injuries, and my legs and hips, and mostly have to use a cane to help aid in my walking.
Best of luck to you. Take care and God Bless.

I was diagnosed Mid-August, and am currently only on oral medication. I'm trying to embrace the lifestyle change right away, and that's starting with gathering as much information as I possibly can so I can make informed choices about how to live my life.
