I am married and My husband at 24 and 2 adult children at 18 months and 5yrs have been diabetic. Now I have a grandchild that could possibly be pre diabetic. She has wet the bed twice in the past few weeks. The next step is an A1c test . We are very upset. Is there anything knew going on to prevent it going into full blown diabetes.

If you are saying pre-diabetic, that would imply type 2 diabetes. If you start them young on a life style that is healthy and filled with good food choices for a growing body, you will be miles ahead of the curve.
If it is type 1, there is not usually a Pre-diabetic diagnosis to go with that. So first find out which one is suspected. Type 1 cannot wait, it must be treated immediately.
While there might be pharmaceuticals that help delay type 2, the best defense is education and a life style that is going to work in the long run.

Lots of studies going on about possible drugs to help delay the onset of type 1, nothing close to being released to the public though. Even if it works well, it's not a complete stop, the diabetes will be "full blown" eventually. Search for DEFEND study and look at
