Good morning everyone. I am feeling a little frustrated today because I did not remember to test my BS until a few minutes ago, which was about 3 hours after breakfast. Sometimes I fail to remember to test in the morning. I usually remember in the evening, but not morning. Does anyone have any good ideas about how they remember? Also how do you remember which finger you used last to test your BS. Any advice is appreciated.

I forget all the time. If for some reason I get detoured from the routine I forget. I am currently writing down my numbers & what I eat at each meal, this helps me to do the testing & the shots. I stopped using my fingers cause of the pain, my right hand & arm won't bleed, so I use my left forearm. I have a small pack I carry around with me in the car with glucose pills, meter, insulin pen, and a wrist Blood Pressure meter. I usually remember to test, I forget the shot!

i know where you're coming from jeffery!!! my main problem is weekends and the last shot of the day. i can remember the first three because i'm taking meds already and i have my meter and syringes next to those. but even so, i always forget to test and give myself my shots on the weekends. it's like i'm not in my weekly day to day routine, so i just completely forget everything!! and at night right before bed, i don't take any meds other than the novolin n and i forget it almost every single night. funny thing is, when i do remember to take it, my levels are much higher in the morning than when i forget it. this forgetfulness makes me so mad at myself!!!!

I keep my testing supplies & insulin/syringes on the kitchen table along with my other meds. I rarely forget to test my BG#s. Sometime I forget if I have taken my needle. I put the proper number of unused syringes in a place where I can see them (i put them out at night). If I can't remember if I'd injected, i look at the place where I put the unused syringes to see if I have the correct number.

I make testing a part of my morning routine like taking my vitamins and taking a shower. I keep my kit near my vitamins and daily old people medication. :)

i have the same problems myself. i was suppose to test before lunch today and forgot. I start testing on my left hand and then move to the right. That way my fingers won't be sore.

I just started checking myself as well. I am newly diagnosed and I kinda made it a routing to check myself as soon as I wake up - so I place my meter by my nightstand and when my alarm goes off I reach for the meter. Now during the day of course we need to check after breakfast and lunch so usually I will at the office and I go onto my outlook and set a reminder so that when it is time I get the pop up. Just a thought!

Hello Grace, I probably need to find a place to put my meter that would remind me to take my reading. The nightstand might be a good place for me also. Thanks!

You may wish to test a bit more
Its up to you to take care of your diabetes
It would be best if you tested first thing in the morning two hr after brakfest
befor lunch and two hr after the same thing with dinner this was you know what foods do what to you.You will know what mwt dose for you as well as if your gettting as much as you need?
Best wishes
