How 'bout we start a daily inspiration and affirmation discussion? Each day add your encouragement and share your ways to get by for that day.
The best advice I think I can give, given my experience and situation, be good to yourself. Take some time to nourish your your soul as well as your body. I call it "me time". I set aside a few moments to do something that brings me joy. When your soul is nourished and refreshed you are more likely to do take charge of the things that are good for your body and blood sugar levels. Soon, the two events will seem like one. Concentrate on the whole mind/body/soul relationship.

I know that when my mind is clear and set on happy things, my body is sure to follow. Just so with the opposite. So my goal is always to try to keep a positive attitude in everything I do. It will take me much farther than negativity. Besides, who wants to hang out with a negative person? I know I sure don't.

Happy day Ahsoup,
I thank this is a good ideal to share what works for each one of us.I also agree w/everyone we are all adults here, as long as it is done in decent & in order we all will be OK. For when we share it may help someone else get through their days better. If we all remember that we are here to be servants to each other unto one another it should not be a problem w/writing our opinions since we all have one & none of them will be the same. I get my me time in most of the time early in the am, (just me & God). But you know sometimes life does not permit that so I do it when possible but it will be before I retire for the night. Another thing I do for me & peace of mind is journal it is a relaxing peaceful time for me. I let Michael know I going & journal usually he ask me do I need anything we kiss then I go to my quiet area put on some music of my choice then just start writing about whatever. Remember that God is not looking @ the situation that each of us are in (4 He is w/us) He is looking @ how we react to the situation. Be blessed & know that all is highly favored in the name of Jesus.

Working 4 Jesus, & Loving it.

I did not mean to stir up the pot of controversy. I just wanted to hear what others do to keep positive and stay motivated. If that does involve spiritual things, regardless of what "religion","belief system", or "church affiliation", please feel free to share and express those. Everyone just needs to keep an open mind and accept that there is diversity. While the word "inspiration" does have some religious meaning, it also can simply mean to "inspire" someone to keep going, keep persevering, keep at the battle we all face as diabetics. One's personal belief is just that…personal. No one should judge or be offended by that.

I have not seen any activity here that has been trouble, so don't worry. I think it is good to know things that help others get through the day. I know if it were not for my two goofy doggies, my day would be sad. They are always happy, no matter what and I should be the same.

So don't worry. It is not the idea, but how we respond to it. And if folks don't want to share, that is all good.

I do this everyday but I just call it "What I am Thankful for". Family, friends, work and yes even diabetis. If I had not be diagnosed I would not have changed my life. Started eating healthier, getting more exersice, I would NOT have lots 37 lbs thats for sure. I am now a more upbeat person. Much more plesant to be around, at least thats what my family says..LOL. I have so much and I try to remember that everyday.

Oh, so true about being thankful for diabetes. I feel the same way. It changed my life, but for the better.

This idea can turn out to be a controversial one, at some point.

Eventually, religion, or a religious point of view will surface in someone's comment or reply, opening a "can of worms" of some sort.
Someone, religiously affiliated or not, will become offended and post their opinion.

Feel free to start a discussion on "Daily Inspiration" if you choose to, but weigh the pros and cons very carefully.

If we stick to sharing what it is that we do, then no offense should be taken by anyone. We are not telling people to do what we are doing but sharing the inspiration of what we do for ourselves. Many here share their faith, as faith is often an important part of dealing with chronic illness. If I told you where the saying my husband uses comes from, many would be horrified. So, tactfully, we can still share ourselves.

Besides, we have many religious points of view that come up on a regular basis and I have not seen anyone remark offense. I trust we are adult enough to tread softly where needed.

Go girl. We all something we believe in something. If we are careful not to try and push our beliefs on everyone else we will be fine.

Something I try to do every day is make sure that I leave a person feeling better or happier than when we met. Sometimes I have to ask for the favor in return, but my husband has a saying that goes "Merry we meet and merry we part".

I think that is a very good idea. Of course I don't know when I'll get my me time. Right now I have 2 granddaughters for the weekend(every weekend) and I work a full time job. But I love it all most of the time so that should nourish my soul!!
