I am new to the sight and find my morning numbers have been running high 130-140 even though my evening numbers are well within range— under 160 2 hours after eating. I take 1 1/2 glucophage with dinner and 1 glucophage with breakfast.

Hi and welcome to the site! The reason that your numbers might be high in the morning is that the medication that your taking (glucophage) may not be the right medication for you. Or you might need to add an additional medication that can help aid the glucophage to lower your fasting blood glucose. It depends on how long you have been taking the medicine and monitoring you blood glucose. If you have only been taking this medication for a little while, don't get discouraged. It might take some time for body to realize/ work with the medication that was prescribed to you. Though if you do notice a pattern that accrues more than three weeks; I'd say talk to your doctor. That's what I think, but if you want a direct/correct answer as to what's going on ask your doctor.

Hope this helps and if you have any question don't be afraid to ask anyone on this site. We are all very willing to help out each other during this chronic disease.

I found this article on the web about the morning highs that I wish to share with you. You're not alone:

Oh, and welcome to our little community. While perhaps not of us have all of the answers for you, you can get some incredible support here. I am most impressed by the genuine friendships that I have made here in a short period of time. At first I was so baffled by diabetes and felt as though I was the only diabetic in the universe. I didn't think my doctor handled things as well as I would have liked. There was no talk about medication, meters, or any treatments. It was like, "lose weight, stay off sugar, exercise more, and have a nice day." I found my own sources of inspiration, motivation, and education… right here!!! You're in good hands with great people!!!

Welcome to DC. You will love it here. Everyone is very helpful. If you have any questions just ask away and someone will have an something to share about it. Morning highs are pretty normal. Look for discussions on dumping.
