Can anyone give me breakfast ideas. I work out 4 times a week before work and need something to eat to get me through a strenous workout, preferably something with little to no preparation. I get up at 4:00 a.m. and really don't have time to prepare anything unless I prepare it the night before. Any suggestions?

In colonial America, I recently read, people ate popcorn for breakfast. I guess that makes sense but wasn't exactly the first breakfast idea that comes to mind. What this means though is really there aren't any right or wrong answers for your breakfasts (translation: breaking of the fast) so as long as you enjoy it and your body / glucose tolerates it, go for it. Think about dinner leftovers or making a breakfast the night before to put in the fridge. Think about low fat yogurts, protein bars or shakes, nutritious cereal or oatmeal, or whatever you like that's quick and easy. Breakfast doesn't have to be the same-old, same-old with waffles and sausage and home fries. Be creative. Start a list of things you list to start a menu plan that you can rotate for variety. Planning ahead will help you with the "what can I have?" questions because your journal will have the answers. Food is energy and breakfast truly is the most important meal of your day. Start it with enjoyment rather than stress.

Happy day,
When you say you don't have time to prepare anything does that mean that you don't get your wk items together @ night ? If so do that like 4 a couple of days in advance then that will free you up in the am. But if that's just not you then boil some eggs get some Special K shakes & as 22froggy stated fruit along w/anything else that is light will work also. What I do is a peanut butter sandwich (half of 1 before w/friut) the other half afterwards w/milk (if can tolorate) if not juice & another type of fruit. What you have to remember we all are different so what may wk for us may not satisfy you. But it want hurt you to try them. Be blessed & know you are highly favored in the name of Jesus.

Working 4 Jesus, & Loving it.

well, I eat my light yogurt every morning, not very filling but I also have a piece of fruit with it. Only thing is you will be starving after your work out..oatmeal is good
