Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Door bells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into Springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad.

Come on…You've got to love the classics!!! : )

Okay my turn…some of my favorite things:

I love reading, and I have quite a nice library of books.

I enjoy Tae Kwon Do. Yes, I am into the martial arts thing.

I wish I was back in Hawaii with my feet in the white warm sands.

I enjoy breathing exercises where I close my eyes and visualize myself running barefoot in endless fields of green meadows warmed by the sun.

Walking on the edges of the beach with the cool waters running over my feet, and having the gentle breezes of the wind kiss me breathlessly.

My relationship with God. He is my love, my heartbeat. He's everything to me!!!

My relationships with family, friends, and with the Friend who knew me before I ever existed.

My Favorite Things:
The sound of nature as it has been for thousands of years; the symphony of crickets and frogs on the still spring night; the way rain hits hard against the window during a storm; the feel of an old book cradled in your hands; book pages that have seen more its life time than anyone can imagine; the laughter of your loved ones sitting around trading stories; the effect of looking at something that you know it was ment for you to see it; the creation of living things, either humans or animals; the wind blowing through the tall trees as you sit at its roots and listen to its calling; the way that a picture can hold a thousand words; the blowing of the wind as it raps you up in a comforting blanket; and sitting under the sun while feeling my skin crackle (not really frying, but being kissed by the sun).
Lastly a web site where you can meet people and friends and have support for anything that you do. For example this site!!!

My favorite things are family (#1), friends, my dogs (Two min-pins, Nick and Demon, who are like children), walks, books, and good food. And last but not least - this site and the Friends that I have made are quickly becoming a favorite thing!

Hmmm…the smell of molasses cookies, reminds me of Great Grandma…warm sun on my face…the sound of a child giggling…the smell of clothes that have hung on a clothesline in the sun all day…the moment a child discovers that he/she can really read…a good book and a cup of tea on a rainy afternoon…Celtic music..the smell of patchouli incense…a letter from an old friend, or a new one…the glittering snow that looks like diamonds on a cold crisp day in January…memories of England and the rest of the UK…I could go on forever…send me an email and I will answer with some of my other favorites.

Family first, love the granddaughters - then early morning walks, fresh cut grass. The quite after a winter snow, it gives you time to think and refresh.
These are just a few of many. You gotta look forward to the new day and every new adventure.

I have never considered a person to be a thing, so I truthfully cannot add my sons (my continued reason for being) on my list of favorite "things."
Although I do understand where everyone is coming from.

RAYT721 2010-08-25 19:57:35 -0500 Report

I would think that the "thing" is the relationship rather than the person or people (or pets) being talked about. Therefore one of your favorite things is the relationship and communication you have with those you love, namely your sons. It's safe to include them. Relationships are wonderful things!!!

I am easily amused. I enjoy reading and writing and teaching and learning. I enjoy making people laugh and smile. I like cooking and eating. I like writing articles on Diabetic Connect and replying to discussions with my off the wall humor. I like caring for myself and for others. I enjoy my job. I enjoy my three cats and I sometimes have more fun with their toys than they do. I like being silly if you haven't guessed. Mainly I like writing to the wonderful set of new friends that I have made on this website and that includes YOU. Oh, but I dislike chasing frogs or being chased by coupon wielding leprechauns!!!

Guardianstone 2010-08-28 10:19:41 -0500 Report

Who likes being chased by coupon wielding leprechauns, or chasing frogs. Uch! of course Gila monsters and sneaker snakes (you know the ones that sneak right up to you.) to your list of dislikes.
I love my husband, Whisper and Ghost (the dynamic, and manic cat duo). I like sunrises, sunsets, a gently rumbling thunderstorm. reading a good book while soaking in a bubble bath, chocolate, writing short stories (none published yet.), arts and crafts, crocheting, making jewerly, and Love my2 adopted neices Razzy (Raspberry) and Jellybean (My sister and brother-in-laws Doxies), and of course my old and new family.
Thank you

I never really thought about it before but when she's talking about the brown paper packages tied up with string, is she referring to a trip for fresh meat or seafood… or did she have a serious drug problem? I've seen those news reports with the marijuana busts south of the border. What else could be in those brown paper packages and why the secret???

Ray, you are too much…LOL In her defense, she spent her time between the abbey and with the children…LOL Now you know how some people are more into the beauty of the gift wrapping itself than the actual gift, well that's all that was; she was into the gift wrapping : )

Honestly, too many to single out one, but if I must choose, I would say learning.
I love seeking out answers to anything, and acquiring knowledge .
(Not to mention religion, chess, jazz, photography, history, life and love)

Mays: we so definitely click in the enjoyment of learning and acquiring knowledge. Your posts are also so meaningful and thought provoking. You've got a way with words and your passion as a "teacher" shines though. What an asset you are to this website!

My grandson, 3 months old, my husband and daughter and then BOOKS!!!! My biggest personal fear is losing my site because I wouldnt be able to read and see my grandson grow up. Of course, that is just MY fears for myself. I hope we all have days filled with the things that bring us the most joy.
