Funny you say that. My wife lost 135 lbs since November with gastric surgery and the doctors are now telling her to put on a few pounds. Hello? I thought she was the only one given conflicting advice. Thanks for the timely discussion. I can't wait to tell her of your post.

Find that happy medium. Find a place where you feel good in your skin and feel like you can do the things in life you want to do. Excess weight is not good, but either is starving yourself. Our bodies need to be in a range, not an absolute number. If your BG numbers are good, then look at building up some muscle and filling in with that after a lot of weight loss. Don't dismiss that inner voice that says you are good right here.

Well then, it sounds like you are doing well and on your way to a healthier you. Be candid with your doctor and let them know what your goals are and how they can help you get there.

Hello, Everyone! Just remember, most physicians are general practitioners or internal medicine docs & not endocrinologists. They don't specialize in diabetics per say. It is unfortunate that they only focus on numbers instead of the "whole picture". We need to do this for ourselfs. I've lost 100lbs since last Sept., & my doc tells me, well u still have a ways to go! I feel great, & can get back into some of my old clothes. As Wolfettia suggested, the pool is great for toning, so do what makes u feel best. If that's not enough, then TELL ur doc that he's not LISTENING to you, and don't let him out of that door until you are done. We are patient and wait for them, we have a right as well to be seen, heard and appropriately replied to.
