Was diagnosed this past week with type 2…have about 100 pounds to lose…my Dr. says to not exceed 150g of carbs a day, which is fine, but then told me to not exceed 1200 calories a day. Isn't 1400-1500 more realistic? especially if i'm exercising?

I guess it is an individual thing. Dr's recommend to personal needs. I have a 1500 calorie per day but My weight is within the required range. Franly I find it easier to eat the right thing in smaller amounts and it works. After a time you adjust to eating less.

I went to a diabetic dietian, and she gave me the same diet, I need to lose 60 lbs, but I have other issues, I am a heart patient and have an ileostomy bag,and all three diets that fit each condition conflict with the other so my Doctor said eat what you can but eat less and eat more often I have lost 20 lbs and I do exercise ,I try to walk at least 3 miles a day, 1200 cal diet is almost a starvation diet and very hard to keep, good luck

She probably just wants me to get some weight off FAST…i'm thinking i'm gonna stay between 1300-1400 calories a day. For example, yesterday i ate about 1350 and i exercised. I feel that should be acceptable, yes? I'm just starting out so i could only accomplish 20 min of aerobics with a resistance band and hand held medicine balls. I also have MS so fatigue kills me, which also hinders my ability to work out harder and longer, so i guess i'll hang in there and just do the best i can! Good luck to u and thanx for responding!!
