Ok, I just don't get it....

Can anyone esplain to me why at 3:30 this afternoon my BG was 99, I ate nothing else before going to my spin class (7pm) which is a full 45 cardio work out. I down 2 - 12oz bottles of water during the process. I then come home and test my sugar and it is at 132!!!! Why ???? I just don't get that.

I have always heard that you shouldn't eat before working out, but then again, I have to remember things are different now huh? So next weeks class, I will try to eat a little something before I go, and see what difference it makes. Thank you Harlen & kdroberts!

Sue it dose not need to be something big but light works for me like three or five cucumber slices just something for your tummy to work on it works for me and may not for you ???? give it a try????

Ok when you burn carbs and you didnt put any in your liver can dump sugar into your blood stream.Must have ben a good workout to have only gone up so little .Great job

It is an awesome workout Harlen. It was only my 2nd time doing this Spin Class, and I never knew how hard it would be. I am not loving it during the process, but sure do feel good afterwards. I have been riding my bike for a few weeks, built up to 6 miles, but didn't get nearly the workout as this class.

Could ne a lot of things. Could be standard meter variations. More likely though is you didn't eat enough. If you don't have enough energy to fuel what you are doing, your body will release glucose. 5+ hours with no food will start to raise blood sugar, add on intense physical activity and you are asking for trouble. Next time, try eating something 20 minutes or so before the class. Start with 15g of carb and go from there. You may also find the class easier.
