As I loose wieght I am always feeling hungry. Eating healthy and following my daily carbs. I went and bought a Diabetic cook book 30 minute meals and as I measure out my porshens for the meal to eat I am learning that its not much food at all. But I fight the urge to want more I find that this cook book makes some really good food. So now its even harder not to take more. But I stick to it. I also found icecream for diabetics that briars makes very good. But I can only eat one icecream bar and thats my snack at night. I love fish and always have and I found out that fish or just about any sea food is very low on carbs. But still there is a limit. I will go fishing now with a whole new look.
So I will continue to fight the urge to want more and stay on this new diabetic diet. I also quit smoking yesterday and that doesn't make it any easier. But the docter came out and sead it pretty bluntly. continue to smoke and you will be dead in 6 months. So all of my bad habits have finely caught up with me. So this is how god punishes me. No more junk food and no more smoking. Every friday after work I used to go to the bar and have a shot of vodka and 2 beers and a steak and fries. Even that I can no longer do because of the drugs I am on won't allow me to even have one beer. I never drank that much just one shot and 2 beers a week. I didn't thank that was to much. But it is time and it is just the way it goes. Down with the bad and up with the good and IT'S NOT EASY BEING A DIABETIC.

Happy day,
Praise God for your obedience which is a praise to God. Also will better your life so you can live longer & be w/the people you love. I will be standing on the wall in the name of Jesus. I quit smoking on Oct. 15 2000 also stopped drinking hard alcohol that same day. You may ask how & why ? The why is because God gave me what I asked for in my husband Michael. The how through God grace & mercy. I believe that when God gives you things that you ask for you should give up things that you know is no good for you out of appreciation. Letting God know that you totally depend on Him to get you through whatever it is @ that time. Remember that you are highly favored in the name of Jesus.

Working 4 Jesus, & Loving it.

It isn't easy to be a diabetic but it does get easier as you find new habits to replace the old ones. It's been said that it takes about three weeks to get over addictions and habits. You will find things that replace those tried and true likes and addictions and you'll be able to swap new things for old things. Don't give up! You are going to have good days and bad days because you are on a journey to a longer and healthier life. Please remember you have a whole network of new supportive friends right here. I won't be going for steak and fries with you but I have posted a french fry recipe (weight watcher friendly) here that may help you diminish your craving for the ones at the pub. When it comes to new things to do, find places where you can't smoke like getting new diabetic books and cookbooks from your library, go on field trips to stores to read nutritional labels, and just go out for walks to take your mind off some things and fill your mind with other things. If you need to talk, please add me to your friends list. I don't have all of the answers but I can understand where you are, where you were and where you're heading and will do/say what I can to help you through the rocky roads. You are not going to starve to death. You will be able to not only get yourself over the obstacles but soon be able to help us get over ours. There's a reason you've joined this community!!! Let's work together.

Breakfast is when I have most of my fiber. I used to be a bacon potatos and eggs with toast and a large class of orange juice. I always thought that was a healthy breakfast. Now I eat high fiber cereals and whole grain toast. I still have orange juice but now its unsweetened and only allowed a 4 oz glass. My lunches is useally soup and a fruit of some kind. Dinner is a salad with a piece of fish or shrimp. snacks are yogart and a high fiber shake and at night a 5 carb icecream bar. I will change that around more as I learn more of what I am allowed to eat and what I am not. I try to keep my carbs down below 250 a day but its not easy. I am sure that my body will get use to this new diet but I must let it happen so I will fight the hunger and do what I can to keep on this diet. Its just sometimes I feel like the cartoon where I have a pea on my plate and a fork and a knife to eat it with. LOL. Thank you Harlen.
