Just wondering how many people wear the medic id jewelry? Also, is there a place where I can obtain a necklace for free. I saw a pamphlet at my physician's office but the going rate was around twenty-five dollars.

I wear a medic-alert necklace. I pay ever year to be linked to a computer that is there 24/7.It hasall my meds. listed and all my health problems. I believe it is 45.00 per year. You also get a free necklace with information on it.

I would really like this information. My necklace is so out dated. My life changes everyear. I went from diabetes /diabetes-dialysis pt. Now it went to Diabetes/kidneytransplant patient. I definately need to update this. It will be 2 years in January and it has never been added. This is a wake up call for me. Thanks…

Well because of my bad back I can not go anywhere alone so my Id bracelet is my daughter or husband. BTW they are not cheap either. LOL I just had to tell you all that. Sorry.

I bought a small heart shaped charm that simply reads "Diabetic" for $11.99. I googled medical charms and a large list came up. I then attached it to my wrist watch. It's dainty and people are aware that I am diabetic without having to wear any gaudy medical ID necklace or tag blaring the fact that I have diabetes.

That is a good idea. I have a charm bracelet that I love, but I thought the id would get lost in it. On my watch is a great idea.

My son wears his braclet all the time, but right now it is broken…I have never heard of a free necklace / braclet.
Around $25 is the going price…Good luck. Please share info if you find out… Thanks

I wear a diabetic ID that I picked up from Walgreens for about $5, it does the trick for ID without the hefty MedicID price tag.

Hi HalfSunflower,

I wear a bracelet with the simple word "diabetic" on the back. I carry a card in my purse that gives the details.
I got mine for $5 at my local durable goods pharmacy. It is not a fancy silver or gold one, but I don't need that to save my life. Perhaps I will get a nicer one someday, but for $5, it's worth it just to have for now.
