Absolutely not!! My life is so very busy with so many joys that I feel very blessed. I know what I need to do with the diabetes, that is taking care of me, each day, not once in a while, so daily walks, watching my diet, staying happy, keeping on top of keep away stress, checking bg#'s and journaling my day. All in all, life is what we choose, be happy or totally consumed with frusteration of the diabetes.

I still enjoy my life, but it just has the few turns and tribulations of being diabetic. There is no reason not to enjoy a car ride for the view, or the sight of the sun setting across the lake, or the laughter of your family. It has alot to do with the attitude as well as the medical aspect.
All I have to say is strive on for your life and enjoy every moment. There are so many things in life that could go awry that to worry and add the extra stress to it isn't necessary. Watch the diet, do what you have to and live life for the fullest meaning that it can have for you!

That would be me,, Mays!! I am struggling with this diagnosis and I have already been through a kidney transplant 12 years ago. That seems like nothing compared to this…there I go, complaining again…LOL!

Thanks Mays!! I don't complain about diabetes, it's just that sometimes I make it harder then it has to be.

Hi Mays, are you a Lady or a Gentleman? Anyway, I don't have a problem dwelling on my Diabetes, I have a problem remembering that I have it!

MAYS 2010-08-14 12:28:43 -0500 Report

Hello Erica,

I am 100% Gentleman, the type that still holds a door (any door) open for a woman, one who seats a woman and stands as she rises from her seat.
A relic from days of honor and character long past, it's a part of me that I will never give up, but rather teach to anyone who is willing to listen and learn.

There is too much in life to enjoy, no reason to avoid it because of diabetes.

I am trying to raise my son to do these things. It is difficult when his dad (my Ex) doesn't do them often enough to get the point accross (but my boyfriend does). He does have very good manners, most of the time, and does open the door for ladies when we are out and about. Its just not a common thing anymore.

Thank you Mays for the inspirational words!

You bring a lot of truth in what you say here. I had to think about this for a while in what you were saying. For years I complained and wined about having diabetes and how I lost things I could not enjoy anymore. Now, I have a different outlook on my diabetes. I can still have my cake and eat it too. I can still have a beautiful, healthy, and successful life without making my diabetes to be a bourden. I am seeing it all now right before my eyes. Your diabetes is what you make of it. This is why I love my new Endo and my new outlook towards things. There is a way you can be positive about having diabetes; bad and good. GREAT post here Mays! A good reminder and uplift to reality. Thank you!
