is anyone else excited/disturbed by the CGM? I love it when it works but I hate it when it keeps me up all night with all the alarms. It is wonderful when it works properly. Does anyone else have trouble with the "cal error" or "meter BG now" in the middle of the night? I'm getting fed up! Any suggestions? Or should o wait until Metronics gets the kinks out of this device ?

I did not like the Medtronic CGM. Many people complain about it, but some are doing quite well with it. I was approved for the Dexcom CGM. I had some trouble at first. Then I found a Dexcom Users Group on another D site. There are over 300 mmbers of that group. Experienced members gave me very good advice and hints not found in the manual. That really turned things around for me. I am having good results a great majority of the time with my Dexcom. I do finger sticks much less often now.

Here's how to cut down the "meter BG" alarms. When you insert a new sensor, it will ask you for a meter BG 2 hrs after you click the clamshell on. Do this. Now, wait about 25 minutes and do another calibration. You will be set for 12 hours.

The secret to good calibrations is to initiate them yourself. Don't wait for the meter BG to go off, it might come at a bad time.

You only need 2 calibrations per day after the sensor is initiated.

To avoid calibration errors — don't calibrate right before/after eating, or close to giving a correction, etc. You want your blood sugar to be sorta steady.

Thanks Harlan. I gave it up for now. Hopefully metronics will perfect it enough so it's not a problem in itself.
