I just started walking on Monday. Here we are on Friday and I lost 4lbs! Doctors have always told me that walking is some of the best exercise you can get. It does NOT have to be fast walking or great distances. I walk 2-3 miles, but take 1 day off a week. I already find myself with higher energy and better levels.

Good for you, losing 4 lbs is a big deal. I walk also and truly believe it is the best thing I do for myself. Amazing how much more energy we get, isn't it. Keep up the good work.

I walk in the warmer months, and also cycle; starting at 8-10 miles per ride early spring and averaging about 20 mile rides 3-4X a week by Sept. Also weight train 2-3X week.

Although I prefer walking to the fridge for beer, I have modified the activity to get more walking in not on any set schedule but as often as I can to park away from the destination. I use steps instead of elevators at work. I also try to keep up on housework to burn calories and have a cleaner house. Exercise doesn't have to be formal so whether a person walks, runs, swims, gardens, or throws a frisbee anything is better than nothing. So glad you've got a routine going and the results are showing… congratulations!!!

I've been told that 3-4 times a week is key idea but it all depends on you and your schedule. Congratulations on the weight loss. Just make sure you celebrate in a positive and healthy way your small successes. keep up the GREAT work with the walking. Seeing is believing…(one of my favorite motivators for me).

I started out slow just walking 15 minutes a night, as I became adjusted to that I would increase. Now I walk for 1.5 hours and have increase my speed to 2.3 mph. Don't try to walk that fast when you first start out.

Was going to edit but it won't let me. Forgot to say I have a treadmill, that way I can adjust my speed.
