So, have you thanked your wife for saving your life?

Seriously, it is a good thing that she was paying attention. So many people don't realize what is happening until they black out and have an ambulance ride to the ER. Good for her, and good for you to find us and join in. You will find a lot of great advice and support here to get you through the scared to death times.

I can only imagine numbers as high as yours and some of the numbers that other members have posted here, the shocking truth had to be frightening for you.
Welcome to the Diabetic Connect Family of Support, together we can make living with diabetes both manageable and meaningful, we achieve this as a family, one big beautiful puzzle composed of many pieces … together!

When i was frist found out my blood sugar was 595. I was admitted to the hospital for three days. I knew something was wrong with me but i just didn't no what. I would use the restroom 3 time within a hr. and then hr. turn into min. I also would drink lost of water. My doctor said i made to him just in time.

My blood sugar didn't even register on the meter because it was so astronomically high. I was drinking every bit of 2 gallons of water a day, but it just didn't register with me that those were symptoms of diabetes. I should have known especially caring for my father who had the very disease, but I guess deep down I knew; I was just in denial. It was only when I could barely see that no one had to convince me to go to the doctor.

my numbers tend to run like rays with some spikes well into the 200s…those scared me witless…I can't imagine 700 or more!

That is the way it was for me as well, drink a glass of water and run to the bathroom, drink coffe and it would go right through me before it hardly had time to change color, another symptom was I was very sleepy all the time, could not keep my eyes open at all. My level was 296, not as bad as yours but it was a wake up call to get my act together. And this is the place that has taught me the most about diabetes and how to keep it under control.

750 would have scared me to death also! I was diagnosed at 135 during a yearly physical blood work with no family history, not severely overweight, never been pregnant, or any of the risk factors. Hopefully you were given some supportive and encouraging ways to get your sugars under control from your medical team and so glad you found us here. I am thrilled with all that this little community has to offer. If there's anything that I can do or say, friend me (is that a verb?). I may not have all of the answers but fellow members will vouch that I am always good for a laugh.

I never had any symptoms! I just went in for my yearly physical. When my doctor told me I was diabetic I thought they have mixed up the results. Wish they had LOL : )
