Think back to your diabetic life, BEFORE becoming a member of Diabetic Connect, and looking at your diabetic life TODAY, how has being a member of this community helped you to deal with diabetes, your doctor and\or your life in general ?

For me, the discussions, research and diabetes related knowledge obtained is priceless and words alone can never, ever explain the importance of the friendships that have been, and are being formed every day.

What about you ?

I have been a member for 20 months. I check in everyday to glean what I can to take care of myself. I have learned so much from all of you and nothing from my doctor. DC is part of my life for my life

I, too, have been on this site for a short time but with the warm welcome and educational support I've been receiving, I feel like I've been here from the very beginning. I am so blessed and grateful that I came across this amazing community filled with amazing people. Thank you Diabetic Connect and everyone for making this a place where I don't feel like I'm visiting but rather I'm home, resting.

Hello All,

Mays, you are right. Although my history as a member of Diabetic Connect is quite short, I have found a lot of warmth and response in this group. I hope I can continue helping this community as much as I can.

I owe my life to this site!
I was uninsured, had no doctor and no money for getting one when I was self diagnosed. For 9 months while I worked to get a doctor (still uninsured) I lived on this site. Gleening information from friend and finding the support and ease of being able to express my feeling without judgment was a healing process as well. This site is a life saver for many, I know it is for me.

I've been diabetic since I was 12 and sadly it wasn't until I joined DC in the beginning of this year that I really knew what I was doing? I have gotten great advice and learned so much here. I have met so many awesome people that I like to call my friends. I have more confidence and control with my diabetes and I don't feel alone anymore as a diabetic. I'm very thankful that I found Diabetic Connect and have become part of this family.

Before I joined DC, it was a guessing game as to what I was doing to control my diabetes. I have learned so much here and have taken better control of my diabetes because of what I have learned here. There is so much knowledge and people you can turn too when you have doubts about what you are doing. It is hard to control diabetes when you are alone, but with the friendships I have gained here I am no longer alone. I appreciate DC and all my friends I have here at DC. This is My Family

You know, I thought I knew everything I need to know about having diabetes and how to live with it. But boy was I wrong, I have learned so much more from all the good friends here at this site than I have gotten from my dr's. Here I get information that is so much easier to understand than that I have gotten from the dr. The help and support has been just terrific. Jeannie is right, some of the information I've learned may have just saved my life. I'll keep coming back.

There weren't many days with diabetes before I found this wonderful site. After the doctor announced that I had "adult onset diabetes," I ran out to get a meter (to prove him wrong) and started surfing support groups online when I ran into this one. Pardon the mouse humor, but I just "clicked" with the family here. I can honestly say that many of the friends on my friends list are genuine friends who I write to behind the scenes of discussions. I have read and shared happy stories and sad ones. I have learned so much about nutrition, motivation, inspiration, education, and about family. I haven't been here on DC for too long but going from the "I am a what-abetic?" to being an informed diabetic has changed and challenged my mind, body and soul. I want to thank each of you for giving me the opportunity to share and compare wisdoms, words and experiences. Thanks Diabetic Connect!!!
