I'm new to this sight, but was wondering if anyone could give me some insight in using Lantas. My doctor took me off my glypeside andAvandia to replace it with Lantas. I have been doing Weight Watchers and have lost 35 lbs, but he thinks my sugars are too high after my meals. This past Tues. I began Lantas, but only taking 10 units in the morning, but I don't think it is enough. Still having some crazy readings even before dinner, which is usually in the 80's - low 100's. Any information would be greatly appreciated. :)

I excrise 3 to 4 days a week on the days i work out doctor says no insulin on those days. My numbers are in good control, sometimes it my take some time for your body to adjust to the insulin.

Hello there! When we decided it was time for me to go on injections. Lantus was the first thing we placed me on. We started me off on the 10 units at first and than we gradually increased it as we needed to. It does take some time and a lot of doctors will gradually do increases. Our bodies sometimes need time to adjust.

Thanks monkeymama,
How many units do you take and when?

By the time I went to my insulin pump (3 months after starting the injections), i was doing 45 units/cc of Lantus and sliding scale with Novolin. I am now using a insulin pump with Novolog. It has been working WONDERS in finally getting me controlled. I never regret EVER in my decision to go to injections/pump.

By the way, I for got to tell you, I have been on my insulin pump almost 3 years. It will be three years ago the end of September I went to injections and than 3 months later the pump.
