Had surgery on Monday and was concerned how the stress would affect my Diabetes. Also I was very worried about managing my BG levels for the few days I would be on a liquid diet. All went good. My BG was 96 at 5AM. They checked it pre-op it was 100 at 8 AM. Next thing I knew it was 2 PM post-op BG 155, GYN had ordered insulin if I was above 150. Then at 7 PM BG was 153. Was on a liguid diet for Monday and Tuesday. Wed. I was allowed to eat a few soft foods. But when my BG was 75 at 6 PM Thursay they let me have some Roast Beef with the soft diet. Today they sent me home and I start my Metformin in the AM. I will be getting an A1c test sometime in the next month or so and that should tell me a little more. Also I will ask my GYN at my next appt. what they did to check during the surgery.
