I was wondering has anyone tried the whole wheat pasta? If so, how is the taste and does it have an immediate effect on your glucose levels.

I have tried it and it was okay. I am not a big pasta eater so when I have the urge I eat what ever happens to be in the house. I only eat a small amount.

I actually make it from scratch with whole wheat flour. I enjoy the taste, but moderation is key. It does raise my bg. Cook it al dente to slow down the carb absorbtion. This does help and is a recommendation of some health professionals.

Well alll I eat now are the whole wheat pasta or whole grain and to me the taste is no differnet then that of the regular pastas. And I've had no reactions concerning my BG levels.

Another thing you can use instead of pasta is spaghetti squash. It is great. And with my marinara it is what I prefer instead of pasta.

Whole wheat products is what I use mostly now and I have been satisfied with the use of them. My BG's have not changed majorly because of it.

I had the whole wheat pasta tonight when I prepared turkey spaghetti. It was absolutely great and my blood sugar 2 hours after dinner was 125. Now I can have one of the things I truly enjoy and not feel so deprived. Try it for yourself and tell me what you think.

I'll eat whole wheat anything but, it seems that pasta rice potato and anything else is a big push up on numbers. So, this is where I take that 2/3 teaspoons of white vinegar and most mornings I have good numbers. If I don't over do it. I love to eat and cook. Especailly at night. The vinegar seem to attack the foods that really kill us. I tried the aplle vinegar for a week. My numbers are better with the white vinegar. Whic is the only time I really take medicine is when I over due it.

Yes, the vinegar is really helping my mom too. She takes 1T in cold water at each meal. She uses white. I didn't really notice any difference when I drank it, but red wine does work for me. You have to check with your doc first, but that might be an alternative as well.

Hi Half Sunflower,
I like the taste of whole wheat pasta, it is a little nutty, kind of sweet. Unfortunately, I can't eat it either. It effects me the same as regular pasta. There is a brand called Dreamfield Pasta and it is wonderful. It is made the same way as your standartd durahm wheat pastas, but it is coated in fiber and the fiber prevents your body from absorbing the carbs as fast, thus reducing your BG levels. I like it. I still don't indulge too much in it, but when I do, this is the only safe one for me.

I've tried alot of whole wheat pasta. The taste is not very good you would have to get use to it. My sugars was the same as if I ate regular pasta. But I have found a pasta that helps a little and is really good. It's called smart pasta. I steer away from pasta but when I do eat it I use smart past.
