Keeping a Journal - A Tip to Share

Today I started "journaling" meals and all the info that goes with…portion size, carbs, starches. etc…when I was diagnosed all my doc said was that I REALLY have to watch what I eat…no ideas, no suggestions, no guidelines…just those 8 words.. "You REALLY have to watch what you eat". And he repeated them. I have been watching what I eat but needed a visual to help bring it all together. WOW! I've been doing GREAT. And you may wonder how do I know that I've been doing great? Well I added a little twist to my "journaling". Next to what I've eaten, I write what I typically ate before being diagnosed. For example - Breakfast today was the suggested portion of Cherrios & 2% milk and a small peach. Lunch was 6 oz baked chicken breast, corn & black eye peas. Before, a typical breakfast would have been a greasy sausage & biscuit & Diet Mt Dew from the local convenience store. Lunch would probably have consisted of a burger & fries. (Yes, I ate alot of fast food). I backtracked & did the same for the last few days. Seeing the comparisons side by side was a real eye opener.

i like this but i just can't seem to keep it going and then when i buy for me mt grand children goes in it and lie about it.

I've been journaliing for my depression. My therapist likes it but I'm not so sure. Ben doing it for about 6 months.

I love journaling what I eat for two reasons, it helps me keep track of the carbs and what effects me how, also I notice that I snack less because I don't wanna have to write it all down lol. Btw some fast food is okay, they have this book "calorie king" and it has most fast food calories and carbs and proteins. Awesome book I recommend.

i need to do that i have my good days and bad my thing is cooking food only for me i have a stepson if i cook anything and tell him its for me he goes right in it and think its funny i need help

I know what you mean I was doing the same you realy dont think of what your eating till you right it down. All the snacks and treets.
