Good evening everyone!

I have had type 2 now since 98. I am 44. I had gestational diabetes 3 times-although all my babies ended up smaller each time-better control. I had issues with a endo who was non-present a lot. Not much help from him. Found a new one and she's awesome. I fell in Feb.09 and fractured my ankle in 3 places and dislocated it on black ice-not fun! No hardware because my blood sugar went from 92 before the fall to 300 within minutes. They had a hard time getting it down so we got it to 250 and did a closed reduction(set it the old fashioned way). I was put in insulin to help with the healing-Lantus and Novalog. No biggie-the needles don't hurt-but I do hate being tied to them.

Now when I was confined to bed/sofa for 4 months-I only ate and slept all day. Yet, I lost 30lbs and my HbA1c was down to 5.4. Fast forward the weight all came back(my thyroid meds were too high-reduced them 3 times) and my HbA1c was back up to 6.6. Phooey. I have to get this weight off-course the ortho I now see had to point that out-good job like we weren't already trying to. Course he's the type that thinks every fat person over eats and is lazy. I eat under 130carbs per day and 1500 cals-per my diabetes educator/nutritionist. It works the best for me. My cholesterol was 160 and all other numbers good on that end-I am on no meds for it or high blood pressure-that was 120/80. My vitamin D was still running low even taking my calcium and vitamin D for the ankle. One fracture has been stubborn in healing-it's best described as a cotton fracture. So upped the Vitamin D to 2000 a day. I eat healthy, walk as much as I can tolerate-I wear a AFO brace to support the ankle(although it's too darned hot right now for it).

They "thought" I had PCOS-nope all three kids naturally and I run like clockwork. No hair loss or any other symptoms of PCOS. They are baffled too why my weight sometimes comes off(it has sometimes) out of the blue-then ramps up really fast again. When all the weight issues started I was 19-gained 40lbs in 6 weeks(and I KNOW it wasn't eating enough at that age to do that!). My cycles stopped for 4 years then all of a sudden 50lbs flew off-and I was pregnant in 3 months and the same ever since.

So looking for advice to keep motivated, exercise tips-got some good ones on the other board-new food ideas and have fun while visiting here. I can always learn new tricks.

Have a great evening-Nell

Hi Nell. I see that you like roller coaster rides! Wow, what a story. I am glad that you are doing better and recovering. I know there are a lot of great things you can find on the site here. There are some discussions on diet and exercise that are set up to be accountable for those who post on it. We have hundreds of great recipes on the site too. I have used many of them myself and my family doesn't even know!. =0) And as for fun, well, you can usually find it here. Look for a post from Ray...he is guaranteed to make you laugh.
