Did you know that today (July 26, 2010) is the 20th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 ?

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) is a law that was enacted by the U.S. Congress in 1990. It was signed into law on July 26, 1990, by President George H. W. Bush, and later amended with changes effective January 1, 2009.

The ADA is a wide-ranging civil rights law that prohibits, under certain circumstances, discrimination based on disability. It affords similar protections against discrimination to Americans with disabilities as the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which made discrimination based on race, religion, sex, national origin, and other characteristics illegal. Disability is defined by the ADA as "a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life activity."

How far we have come! We have a ways to go, but to be sure things are far more along here than in many countries. This is also thanks in a great part to our Disabled Vets. They were paramount in getting this legislation passed.

So very true blessings to them all. Pray that our country take in account of all the things our vets have sacrified for the country we live in. God bless them all & their families.

Very true, it's hard to believe that we once, as a country, didn't care about those with disabilities.

Happy day, so if my husband was let go over a yr ago because he could not perform his duties any longer because of his diabeties & they let him go instead of finding something else he could do in/for the company does that fall in that catagory ? Also is it too late for him to go back & fight for a position in the company ?

The link beneath the article gives a general explanation of the rights granted to those with disabilities, it explains what is considered and covered under the ADA law, for further advice my recommendation is for you to seek professional legal consul.

Thanks for this update & link I will look more into this. My husband said forget about it but I let him know that yes it may have been Gods way of removing him from that place @ that time. By looking into this we will be able to help someone else down the road if not ourselves. One of my sayings is be blessed or bless some one w/the knowledge that you are given no matter what it is concerning. Have a fantastic rest of the day. I will be signing off soon but will chat again @ another time.
