Ok went out for dinner tonight and ate at a japanese steak house. I watched carefully as the Hibachi chef do his fun little show, preparing the meals in front of us and so on. Ordered the brown rice and veggies with scallops. Little did I know while he was preparing the meal he snuck long shreds of potato into the veggies. I honestly, thought they were sprouts of some kind. I was horrifide after I found out ! I knew they would shoot my bgl way up there. Towards the end of the meal, my vision was going fuzzy and I felt sick. On my way home we were passing a Smoothie King and I knew they had wheatgrass. So I went in and got a 2oz. shot. By the time we got home I was feeling much better, tested and was at 97. I am amazed and sold. Now I just need to grow my own and get a juicer.

Thanks Mays I am going to look around and see what I can find as well. I know the juicers can be expensive. I am going to try trader joes and see what's there.

Wow, and what in the wheat grass makes that kind of control possible? I have often wondered about it, but have never tried it. I use some green foods, but they are powdered, not fresh. Please share more, I am eager to hear what you have learned.

Gabby I am not really sure, I have been also hearing how good wheatgrass as a superfood is but also heard that it must be drank as soon as it is masticated otherwise it loses the benefit. I had not taken my dose of metformin since 6am nor had I taken my regular mixture of supplements for the day, I was late in my second dose. I know chlorophyll increases the function of the heart, affects the vascular system, and the intestines. I was pretty scared to be honest, I had been so good at keeping my levels low and knowing what potato does to me since I am very sensitive to them. We were there for a good amount of time because it was a friends birthday. I could feel the effects. even to the point of stumbling to get out of the restaurant. I'm sure many assumed I was drunk, even though I had nothing to drink. When I got the shot, I had no idea what my levels were but I could tell they were high. We made another stop before we got home at a gas station I used the bathroom and splashed water on my face. I began to feel heaps better and when we got home I felt normal again. 2 hours after eating and I was 97 on the meter. This morning I was 106.

Are you sure you had a high? The things like shakes and feeling drunk are often for lows. But you know your self best...
I know that you have to drink it right away. Kind of like garlic in that manner. The longer you wait after it has been cut up, the weaker it gets.
I am curious of how it tasted. I have heard it's an acquired taste.

There really wasnt any way I could have been low, after that meal especially with the carbs the blurry vision and sick feeling I was experiencing was very typical of my highs, when I am low I feel like a trapped rat, very aggitated, panicky.

You know how a fresh cut lawn smells, it tastes just like that. lol It reminded me of childhood rolling around in the grass.

Oh, that sounds really good then. I love that smell!! Ah...I will have to find a way to grow it and do that myself.

I just end up with highs, I have not had a low ever. Not that I want one, but I would like to be lower than I get. I'm just glad you were okay. Either way, it is scary to be at such an extreme.

Can I drop a shot of the stuff into something else and drink it. I had wheatgrass once a long time ago and didn't care for the taste. It reminded me of the face-plant in the grass I did once when we were playing roller derby growing up in Philly. Grass may smell nice but doesn't taste too good.

I take my meter with me everywhere, especially when eating out. That way I can always test if I have too. I never go without it. I sometimes run out of strips when away from home but I always got my meter.
